Research Interests

My work addresses the relation between rational choice theory and institutions, to be understood as a set of shared norms and customs. I investigate how formal methods, in particular classical game theory, evolutionary game theory, and agent-based modeling can be used for a mathematical representation of strategic interactions, the emergence of institutions and institutional change.

Current Research

  • Rational Choice Theory, Classical Game Theory, Evolutionary Game Theory.
  • Meso-Economics (with W. Elsner)
  • Models of preferential attachment and skewed firm-size distributions (with S. Kinsella and Edward J. Nell).
  • Formal modeling in social epistemology: increasing returns in scientific knowledge (with Rogier De Langhe).
